Have these ready before you start
- Your UAN (12 digits — your employer or HR can give it to you, or look it up via the "Know your UAN" link on the EPFO portal; needs your PAN + mobile)
- EPFO portal password — if you've never logged in, click 'Activate UAN' on https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in to set one (one-time, free)
- Aadhaar-linked mobile (some flows OTP to it)
- Patience — the EPFO portal is famously slow during 10am–4pm weekdays. Try evenings or weekends
Step by step
- 1
Log in to the EPFO Member Portal
Visit unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in. Use UAN + password + captcha. First-time users: click 'Activate UAN' first (see preflight) to set the password.
- 2
Open Member Passbook
After login, go to 'View → Passbook' or visit passbook.epfindia.gov.in directly. Wait a few seconds — the portal can be slow.
- 3
Select your employer
If you have multiple PF accounts (one per past employer), you'll see them listed. Sajag accepts one passbook PDF per employer — download each one separately and upload them all in the EPFO slot during onboarding.

Download as PDF
Click the 'Download Passbook' button. Save the file. Repeat for each employer if you have more than one PF account.

Portal UIs change often, so we link a curated YouTube search instead of one specific video. Pick whichever recent tutorial you like — they all show the same flow.
Watch on YouTubeIf the PDF asks for a password
EPFO passbooks usually open without a password. If prompted, use your DOB in DDMMYYYY.
Sajag’s parser also tries common derivations automatically (PAN, DOB combinations, last-4 of mobile, bank-specific schemes). You usually won’t need to type the password during upload.
Common gotchas
EPFO portal is famously slow during peak hours (10am–4pm weekdays). Try late evening or weekend if it's timing out.
If multiple PF accounts haven't been merged under one UAN, do that first via 'Online Services → One Member - One EPF Account (Transfer Request)'. Sajag works with un-merged accounts but the dashboard reads cleaner after merge.
PF interest is credited annually (March-end ish). The passbook may show a zero entry until the credit arrives — it's not lost, just not yet posted.
Don't pay any third-party 'PF withdrawal agents' — every PF service is free on the official portal.
